Presentation Dance

Galatea-Murupara

The Galatea Cricket Club held a dance to herald the opening of their playing season. A points cup won last season by Mr R. Nettleton as the best allround player, was presented by the patron,. Mr J. Wilson. The club president, Mr Falvey, thanked supporters and the ladies for their help with the catering. The music was supplied by the Ngatimaiwha Serenaders. Women’s Division _ The Murupara-Galatea branch of the Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers, held a very successful birthday gathering in King’s Hall, Murupara, on October 18. There were visitors from the Galatea institute and the Mothers’ Welfare League. Posies were presented to the president of these organisations and to the president of the branch, Mrs Hill, the secretary, Mrs C. Allen, and the competition organiser, Mrs Williams. A short sketch was presented by members and songs were sung by Mrs L. Goodhue. Afternoon tea was served by committee members. Competition winners:— Smocked article, Mrs H. Goodhue 1, Mrs C. Allen 2; single bloom, Mrs Yager'l, Mrs Williams 2; head of flowers, Mrs Gibbs 1, Mrs Williams 2; Williams 1, Mrs Stunell 2.

. The institute president, Mrs Black, lit the candle's on the cake and the president of the Welfare League cut the cake. .
