EDGECUMBE LICENCE APPROVED

An application by Austin Harrison Holden for a licence to sell intoxicating liquor at the premises at present known as the Edgecumbe Private Hotel was granted by the Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee at Rotorua yesterday. Before the certificate is issued, legal formalities concerning advertising for objections must be complied with and the committee will satisfy itself that building alterations and additions, shown as being intended when the application was made, have been completed. It may yet be some months before the licensed hotel is operating.

The Licensing Control Commission recently approved a licence for Edgecumbe and the only other applicant, the Whakatane County Council, which contemplated a trust hotel, withdrew its application.
