Annual Meeting Of Caledonian Society

The' fourteenth annual meeting of the Whakatane and District Caledonian Society took place in the Caledonian Hall on Tuesday night. In the absence of Mrs Craig (Chieftainess), Mr W. Simons presided over about 40 members. The Chief read the annual report, which stated that the Society was in a very satisfactory condition. The hall had been re-decorat-ed, the supper room enlarged and there had been several/ other alterations which made for better conditions. The Pipe Major, Mr K. Ferguson, presented a report stating that he now had nine playing pipers and several drummers. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr T. Grant; chief, Mr W. Simons; chieftains, Mr G. Tweedie and Mrs M. Craig; executive committee, Mrs J. King Jnr., Mrs R. JOockray, Mrs D. King, Mrs Ross; chaplain, Rev. R. T. Dodds; social committee, Miss Joyce and Joan Miller, Mrs F. Watson, Mrs A. Wallace; band committee, Mr D. King and Mr Ross.
