Druids Win Bowling Tourney

The Whakatane Druids “D” team won the Legion of Frontiersmen bowling tournament held . in the Winter Show Building on Saturday and Monday evenings. Six of the 24 mats which were in use on Saturday, were left down for the semifinals on Monday, and although there were not as many competitors present as on Saturday, when all 52 teams were competing, there was a very large number of spectators. In the finals the Druids D team met the Board Mills St John B team who had come right through the tournament without a loss. This meant that the Druids who had only one life left, had to beat the Board Mills twice, which they did thus winning the tournament. The winning team Whakatane Druids D were as follows; Mrs J. Rivett Jnr., Mrs C. Bathe, L. Henderson, J. Chisholm (skip)/. Run-ners-up were the Whakatane Board Mills St John B: M. H. Sibbern, R. Brown, M. Mason, J. Love (skip).
