Brisk Sale On Thursday
Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their fortnightly stock sale on Thursday, when there was a medium yarding of sheep and cattle. The sale was particularly brisk and a complete clearance was effected at values in vendor’s favour. Realisations were:—
Sheep: Fat shorn wethers to £2 19s; forward condition shorn 4 and 6-tboth wethers, £2 11s 9d; 4 and 6-tooth wethers, shorn, £2 7s 3d.
Cattle: Heavy prime P.A. cows, £24 ss; medium prime cows, £lO 10s; medium Jersey cows, £9 to £9 s 2s ;d; medium boners, £6 17s 6d to £7 12s 6d; light boners, £5 18s to £6 ss; small Jersey steers, £4 10s.
Dairy: Springing Jersey heifers, £lO 15s to £ll.
Extra Keen Demand For Pigs The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report on their fortnightly pig sale held at Edgecumbe on Wednesday. A smaller yarding of pigs came forward. Competition was extra keen for all classes and a good sale resulted. Quotations: —
Choppers, £4 7s 6d to £8 10s; heavy bacon, £7 3s to £7 6s; medium bacon, £6 15s to £7 2s; light bacon, £6 5s to £6 12s; large buttermilk pigs, £5 15s to £6 2s; smaller buttermilk pigs and large stores, £5 2s to £5 12s; medium stores, £4 12s to £4 18s; smaller stores, £4 Is to £4 10s; slips, £3 10s to £3 18s; best weaners, to £3; sows to farrow, £8 10s to £l4 10s; woolly fat hoggets to £4 10s. '
Demand Holds At Te Puke The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report on their fortnightly stock sale held at Te Puke on Tuesday. .
Pigs were again penned in large numbers, the majority of which were medium bacon and large buttermilk pigs. Buyers again operated freely for light and medium weight bacon. Large stores and buttermilk pigs were also in keen demand.
A good yarding of cattle was penned and sold at advanced rates. Good quality fat cows ex dairy were keenly sought, outside butchers operating. The advertised yearling Jersey heifers sold under spirited competition with the top pen on account of Mr H. A. Ashe, Te Matai Road, realising £l4 12s 6d, while another good quality line realised £l3 15s.
A medium yarding of fat and store sheep sold at advanced rates. A small yarding of dairy cattle sold at late rates.
