Gardening Circle Meets At Nukuhou
The Nukuhou gardening circle of the Women’s Institute had its October meeting at the home of Mrs M. King, the weather was ideal. The attendance was very good. Mrs A. Poole presided. Mrs R. Bell gave a reading on gladioli and dahlias. Naming trees and shrubs was won by Mrs Poole, Mrs Englebretson second and Mrs R. Bell third. A butterfly hunt was won by Mrs McGillivray, Mrs S. Eagle and Mrs Cranswick all equal. The day’s competitions were judged by Mrs N. Eagle and Mrs McGillivray. Results were:—
Best shrub, Mrs W. Macdonald 1, Mrs Cranswick 2, Mrs Bell 3; best flower, Mrs M. King 1, Mrs Bell 2, Mrs Macdonald 3; shoulder spray, Mrs Bell 1, Mrs Englebretson 2. The next meeting is to be held at Mrs I. Savage’s home. Mrs Poole thanked Mrs King, the hostesses and judges.
