Dunning, Otakiri, told the Bay of Plenty sub-provincial executive of Federated Farmers, Auckland Province at a meeting in Whakatane. He said that Maoris wanted the situation cleared up as soon as possible. They realised that the land was no good to anyone just lying idle growing weeds and not bringing in money.
“Their replies to me coincided very closely with those of Europeans,” Mr Dunning concluded.
