Meeting Of Thornton Women’s Institute

The October meeting of the Thornton Women’s Institute was well attended. As it was members’ day, Mrs Robb was president and Mrs Checkley secretary. Mesdames Branch and Robb were chosen as delegates for the Council meeting at Taneatua. Mrs Sheat gave a talk on the arts and crafts exhibited at the Christchurch Conference. Competition results were:— Best bloom, Mrs Robb 1, Mrs Law 2; best vegetable, Mrs Sheat 1, Mrs Robb 2; pikelets, Mrs Law 1, Mrs Foote 2; trough of flowers, Mrs Robb 1, Mrs Law 2; frock, Mrs Robb 1, Mrs O Branch 2. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames E. Law, W. Law and Branch.
