Grass Seed Yield Increased By Sulphate Of Ammonia
Applications of sulphate of ammonia at closing time appreciably increase yields of grass seed crops. The Department of Agriculture, states that an increase of about three bushels an acre may be expected for ryegrass from an application of one hundredweight of sulphate of ammonia, and some trials have shown increases of seven to eight bushels from ' one and a half hundredweight. Cocksfoot fields for seed which normally are not grazed have been shown to benefit to .an even greater extent from sulphate of ammonia topdressings. In this crop yields have been increased by 140 pounds through the application of one hundredweight of sulphate of ammonia in autumn and a similar dressing jn spring.
