Foreman Reports To The Borough Council
Reporting to the Whakatane Borough Council on Monday night, the foreman, Mr C. D. Molesworth, stated:—• McGarvey Road:* The widening of: 12| chains and spreading base metal has been completed using 200 cubic yards metal. Douglas Street Stormwater Pipe Drain. The laying of pipes has been completed and back filled. The pump has been fitted with an auto-i matic control switch.
Old County Road: 288 cubic yards of base metal has been spread on 16 chains and water table;; have been formed. James Street: A depression on Mr Finucane's subdivision frontage has been filled with 80 cubic yards of rock, and water channels with a 12" pipe culvert layed to discharge storm water to a drainage easement through Mr Fraser's property. Domain Recreation Area: Filling and levelling has been carried out to provide for athletics and cricket, and grass seed and manure applied.
Hill Cemetery: Levelling to form the lawn area is in progress, and fencing has been moved to the new alignment. Harbour Board Road Culverting: Considerable staff labour is being employed on the culvert construction between tides and much difficulty is being experienced through underground springs and unstable ground. . Water Supply: Three new service connections have been provided and one blowout repaired. The temporary service to Wairaka Pa has been removed. Maintenance works engaged -oa include the following: Metal road patching and grading, bitumin road patching, traffic sign painting, clearing water channels, grass mowing on parks, reserves and Domain area, sextons duties including two interments.
