Women's Institutes Meet At Waimana And Nukuhou
NUKUHOU The attendance was good at the October meeting of the Nukuhou Women's Institute. Mrs McGillivray presided. Invitations to several W.I. birthdays were xeceived, and some members hope to attend them if possible. Delegates to attend the biannual Federation meeting at Taneatua are Mrs R. Macdonald and Mrs T. Doran.
The roll call, u The Country I Would Like to Visit and Why" was well responded to, most members stating they preferred to see New Zealand first. Mrs Wylde gave a demonstration on modern floral decorations. Sprays of flowers were presented to members having birthdays in October. A competition was won by Mrs Spanhake Snr. The night's competitions were well entered for, the results were:— Best single flower, Mrs Doran 1, Mrs R. Bell 2, Mrs F. Spanhake 3; multiple flower, Mrs M. King 1, Mrs Wylde 2, Mrs R.' Bell 3; best vegetable, Mrs King 1, Mrs Bell 2, Mrs Doran 3; jar marmalade, Mrs Sp-m----hake 1, Mrs I. Savage 2, Mrs McGillivray 3; sun suit, Mrs Menzies 1, Mrs Doran 2, Mrs R. Macdonald and Mrs Bell 3 equal. The sales table, being in charge of Mrs M. Englebretsen, did excellent business. WAIMANA A most successful flower show was held at the October meeting of the Waimana Women's Institute. There were only 12 classes, but the entries were of high standard and numerous.
The meeting was presided over by Mrs Hewitt, and the attendance was very good. Delegates to attend the A bi-annual Federation meeting, are Mesdames Looney and Stevenson; and Mesdames M. King and C. P. Wylde are to be delegates to the Whakatane A. and P. Show meeting. Letters were read from the Federation president and from the link at Benfleet, England; Mrs J. Mitchell to reply to the latter. Shoulder sprays were presented to members having birthdays this month. Mrs Hodgson gave the golden thread travel talk on her recent trip to Nelson and back. The sales table was held for funds for the combined orphanages. The judges for the show and competitions were Mrs Cranswick and Mrs Mexted. The points prizes were won by Mrs N. Eagle 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs Wylde 3 in the show. Detailed results:—

Medium trough, modern, Mrs Wylde 1, Miss J. Stevens 2, Mrs Bell 3. The day's competitions were : Multiple bloom, Mrs Eagle 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs King 3; single bloom, Mrs Hewitt 1, Miss Stevens 2, Mrs H. Bell 3; best vegetable, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs King and Mrs F. Bell equal 2, Mrs C. White 3; bunch flowers, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs Kelsen 2, Mrs F. Bell 3; sponge sandwich, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2; face cloth, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs Joseph Addison 3. Articles from the last three competitions were donated to the hospital. After afternoon tea, Mrs Hewitt thanked the hostesses, judges and Mrs M. King and Mrs Potter for taking charge of the show, and Mrs Macdonald for the sales table.
