Successful School Concert Held At Waimana
A successful concert was held last Thursday evening by the Waimana School. All items by the children were well received by the audience. The function was a credit to the teachers and children, who acted in plays and mimes, sang and danced. Mr Robert Wardlaw, chairman of the School Committee, thanked the teachers, Mr Potter, Mrs Peebles, Mrs Boynton and also Mrs Potter; Mrs Bolt, for helping with her dancing pupils, and Mrs Monty King for the items by the Brownies.
Mr Potter, the headmaster, also presented prefect badges to Frances Faulkner, Bella Hiko, Kevin Such and Colin Thrupp. The programme was:— Choruses by the Seniors; Choruses by the Intermediates; Action songs, Primers; Sailors . Hornpipe, Lynette Hampton; Play, The Hare and the Green Coat man, by Intermediates; Irish Jig by Gail and Carol Hampton; Sketch, Ghost, by Senior Boys; Ten Little Nigger Boys and Play, Scribbly Writing, by Intermediates; Highland Fling by Carol Hampton and Yvonne Kreebone; Piano soles by Lynette King and Gordon Looney; Violin solo, Patricia Eagle; Items by the Borwnies, "My Mother Said""-and "Green Flow the Leaves''; Waltz tap by Lynette Hampton; Play, Rip; Van Winkle, Seniors; Sketch, Blow out the Candle, Seniors; Ballet by Mrs Bolt's pupils; Mime, by Seniors; Sword Dance, Lynette and Gail Hampton; Choruses by Seniors.
