New Range Record Set By Miss Bathe

Miss Audrey Bathe, junior member of the Whakatane Legion Miniature Rifle Club won the trophy for highest total score for the afternoon in a shoot with Cambridge on Saturday. In one shoot, scoring 98.7 she set a new Whakatane club range record.

Mr H. H. Whittaker of Cambridge who scored 190.7 won the second trophy only .1 behind Miss Bathe.

The visitors arrived in the morning and after entertaining them with morning tea at the Heads, Whakatane Club members took them to Ohope Beach on a sightseeing jaunt before lunch.

The shoot started shortly after 1 p.m.. and competition was keen, as the local members were out to prove that they could hold their own on the home range. In thanking Whakatane members for such an enjoyable day, Mr A. Moore, of Cambridge, stressed the friendliness and comradeship between clubs and experssed the hope that they may repeat the visit at a later date.
