Handy Hints For Women Who Knit

Difficulty is often experienced in returning the stitches to the needle after"'unravelling knitting. When undoing many rows count down to the number of rows to be unravelled then slip a fine knitting pin through each stitch on this row. Now slip the top pin out of the knitting unravelling the stitches down to the row through which the pin was passed. To undo only a few stitches keep the knitting on the pin and put the left hand pin into the stitch directly under the stitch son the righthand pin, pick it up on the left pin, slip the first stitch off right pin and draw up the wool. Continue in this way until all the stitches required are undone. A knit is only permissible at the end of a row and the tie must be made close to the pin to avoid a loose edge stitch. A reef knot is the least clumsy of knots and will not work loose. When the seam of the garment is being joined sew over the ends of the knot placing the ends in opposite directions.
