Friendly games were played.
Table: Tennis Champs At a meeting of the Whakatane Table Tennis Club on Wednesday, members decided to hold the Club Championships and handicap contests- at 7.30 next Wednesday and the Reason’s closing evening the following week. “Work-a-Week” Whakatane district girl guides will hold their “work-a-week” in the week before Christmas and not earlier as is proposed elsewhere. The organisation will be similar to that for the boy scouts’ “bob-a-job” week. Trophies Donated Trophies donated to the Whakatane Cricket Association for the coming season are: Mr N. E. Rigden, a bat for the most improved cricketer. Mr K. ■ Tunnicliffe, trophy for best bowling average. Mr .W. H. Whiteside for best batting average. Poorly-Kept? •The allegedly poorly-kept state of reserves in Whakatane was criticised at a meeting of the executive of the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce. It was stated that the efforts of the Beautifying Society were being nullified.
