Demand Restricted For Pedigree Bulls At Waimana Sale
Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report that competition was restricted for the offering of pedigree Jersey bulls at their sale held at Waimana on Wednesday. The advertised entries of sheep solicited a keen enquiry for woolly wethers from Mr G. Hewitt realising £5 7s. There was a good yarding of all classes of cattle with very firm values ruling throughout, especially for fat Jersey cows ex-dairy, these selling up to £l7 17s 6d. The offering of dairy cattle was small with best heifers selling to £l7 and cows C.T.P. to £2O. They quote:—
Best pedigree 2-year Jersey bulls, 24gns to 30gns; pedigree yearling Jersey bulls, 20gns to 24gns; smaller pedigree yearling Jersey bulls, 15gns to lSjjgns. Sheep: Fat woolly wethers to £5 7s; a line of 55 forward condition shorn wethers to £2 16s; shorn W/F hoggets, £2 Os 6d. Cattle: Best fat Jersey cows, £l7 to £l7 17s 6d; medium fat Jersey cows, £l3, 10s to £ls 12s 6d; light fat Jersey cows, £lO 5s .to £l3 7s 6d; best boner cows, £7 10s to £9 10s; light to medium boner cows, £5 2s 6d to £7; cull £3 16s to £5; empty 2-year Jersey heifers £6 15s to £7 15s; empty 2-year Ayrshire cross heifers, £7; best dairy heifers, £ls to £l7; best dairy cows, £ls to £2O; sound cows to calve, £l2 to £l3 10s; grade 2-year to 4-year Jersey bulls, £l3 15s to £l6; 5-year A.A. bull, £l7.
