25 YEARS SINCE LAST ELECTION FOR MAYORALTY

It is 25 years since there was an election for the Whakatane Mayoralty.

Mr Turnbull, elected in 1925, was Mayor for three months only before he resigned and was succeeded, unopposed by Hon (then Mr) W. Sullivan. Mr Sullivan was not opposed during the 13 years he held the office.

Mr B. S. Barry was elected unopposed 12 years ago and has not been opposed since.
