TOP-DRESSING FROM THE AIR COMING HERE

Aerial top-dressing is to be introduced in Eastern Bay of Plenty. A Tauranga firm announces its intention of giving a demonstration on the property of Mr Sladden, Waiohau Valley. It is estimated that at least 10,000 acres of hill country in this district would be the better for aerial sowing of manure. Past the experimental stage in most parts of New Zealand, aerial top-dressing is becoming a recognised part of high-country farming economy. It has been proved to be vastly more efficient than any other method of hill-side manuring. Prices for the work are in most localities, being reduced as companies become firmly established.

Prices rise according to distance from airstrip and height of flights. In some parts of this area, it is thought, the finding of suitable airstrips may cause difficulty. Nevertheless, the advent of aerial topdressing is looked on locally as being of great importance to the Eastern Bay.
