Waimana Gardening Circle Holds Monthly Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Waimana Gardening Circle was held at Mrs Potter's home, and the attendance of members was very good. Mrs M. King presided. Mrs Stevenson acted as judge for the competitions. A proposal to be presented to the Institute to hold a small flower show at the October meeting, 12'classes being proposed. Mrs Hewitt gave a reading on early planting of vegetable seeds, and the growing of carnations, sweet peas and larkspurs.

Mrs Wylde gave an interesting demonstration on the making of shoulder posies. A scavenger hunt, arranged by Mrs Potter, was won by Mrs S. Eagle, Mrs Wylde and Mrs M. King equal 2. Competition results:— Best flower, Mrs N. Eagle 1, Mrs Wylde 2, Mrs Hewitt 3; vegetable, Mrs M. King 1, Mrs S. Eagle 2, Mrs Hewitt 3; vase of spring flowers, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs King 2, Mrs N. Eagle 3.
