Nukuhou Women's Institute Observes First Anniversary

The first birthday of the Nukuhou Women's Institute was celebrated in the Nukuhou School. Mrs McGillivray presided over a large attendance. There were visitors from Waimana and Otara. Four new members were welcomed, Mrs J. L. Burnett, Mrs B. Burnett, Miss Croft and Mrs G. Proffit.

Mrs R. Macdonald, secretary, presented a spray to Mrs McCallion, Federation President, and birthday sprays were presented to Mesdames Wylde, Milne, W. Macdonald and Miss Wylde. Mrs McCallion expressed her pleasure at being able to be present and wished the Institute many more birthdays.

The ..programme opened with two songs by Mrs H. Spanhake, Mrs G. Mitchell and Mrs B. Burnett. Several wall competitions and other games were well entered into. A lovely birthday cake, made by Mrs Wylde and beautifully iced by Mrs Hewitt, was cut at supper. The one candle was lit by Mrs Wylde, and blown out by Mrs R. Macdonald and the cake was cut by the president.
