Mr G. A. Wilkes has been elected to represent the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce on the Whakatane War Memorial Committee.
Miss Gay Gordon, a member of the Olympics basketball team, which competed at the Rotorua tournament, suffered a fractured wrist. She returned to Whakatane yesterday.
Mr G. K. Koea, who has resigned from the staff of the Bay of Plenty Beacon to undertake other newspaper work in Whakatane, was farewelled on Friday evening. The staff presented him with a writing set.
