Amendment Made In Harbour Bill
Substantial drafting amendments were made to the Whakatane Harbour Amendment Bill by the Local Bills Committee of the House of Representatives. This was reported to the House by the chairman of the committee, Mr J. N. Massey (Government—Franklin). He also stated that the rights and prerogatives of the Crown were affected, as the measure sought to include a portion of Crown land in the Whakatane harbour district. The bill was set down for consideration by the House next Thursday afternoon.
