More Than £lB Raised For Children's Appeal At Matata
It takes more than a very wet day to dampen the enthusiasm of the Matata Women's Institute members, and they turned out in force to carry on with the arrangements made to sponsor an appeal for the United Nations Appeal for Children. Displaying the fine collection of cakes, jam and saleable articles in an unused shop, they did brisk business with the folks who ventured out in spite of the weather. The dressed turkey was won by Mrs Marr, and the iced cake by F. Reichardt. Together with a number of donations the sum of £lB Is 5d was realised and forwarded to Whakatane.
