Public Meeting For War Memorial
A public meeting will be held on August 24 to consider the form 'of Whakatane’s War Memorial. At a borough council meeting on Monday night, a letter was received from the Department of Internal Affairs stating the forms which subsidised memorials could take. It was now clear that the domain project was eligible for a subsidy, said the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry. It was decided to call a public meeting.
