Fewer Pigs And Cattle Are Yarded At Western Bay Sale
An average yarding of fat and boner cattle was disposed of at prices right up to recent quotations at the Te Puke stock sale of the New Zealand Loan and Mercan-
tile Agency. There was an improved demand for good quality dairy cattle. Fewer large buttermilk pigs and baconers came forward. Prices remained very firm at late bids. The demand for store pigs was very strong and values showed a further rise on previous sales. Range of prices:—
Pigs: Large buttermilk pigs, £5 9s to £5 16s; medium buttermilk pigs, £4 15s to £5 ss; heavy porkers, £5 5s to £5 15s; light porkers, £4 to £5; medium store pigs, £3 15s to £4 10s; small stores and slips, £3 10s to £4; weaners, £2 14s to £3 Is.
Cattle: Medium fat cows and dairy, £9 5s to’ £11; light fat cows, £7 10s to £9; boner cows, £7 to £9; light boner cows, £2 10s to £6; small good quality yearling Jersey heifers, £7 14s; Jersey heifers, close to profit, £ls to £2O.
