First Aid In Home: Talk Given To Galatea Women

At the August meeting of the Murupara-Galatea Women’s Division an address on “Simple FirstAid Treatment in the Home,” was given by the District Nurse, Miss R. Davies.

“Statistics show that 70 per cent of the accident cases admitted to hospitals occur in the homes, the majority being burns, scalds, cuts and fractures,” Nurse Davies said, and went on to explain methods of avoiding this type of accident. Nurse Davies exhibited a small box stocked with first-aid essentials for the home, pointing out its advantages and compactness. Various new treatments were discussed, and members felt after the address that they would be able to cope more readily with accidents and know just when to send -for aid.

Mrs C. Allen gave a detailed account of her recent visit to Wellington as a representative of the Women’s Division Conference. A short and humorous sketch, “Ma’s Holiday,” was presented by Mesdames Hill, Newton, Gibbs and Stunell.
