High School Wns Basketball Tourney
Whakatane High School won the Bay of Plenty secondary schools’ basketball tournament held at Tauranga on Thursday. Two teams played nine games for only one loss. Whakatane also had two Rugby wins against Tauranga College but a 3rd XV was defeated by Rangitahi District High School at Whakatane. In a basketball match Whakatane E beat' Rangitahi on the Whakatane courts. Results:— v
Rugby: Whakatane 3 v Tauranga College 0, Whakatane 2nd XV 14 V Tauranga 2nd XV 6, Rangitahi D.H.S. 6 v Whakatane 3rd XV 0. Basketball: Whakatane A v Tauranga 11-13, v Te Puke 15-12, v Waihi 13-11. Whakatane B v Tauranga 17-13, v Te Puke 16-2, v Waihi 13-1, Whakatane C v Tauranga 11-9, v Te Puke 24-4, v Waihi 13-3, Whakatane E v Rangitaihi 19-5.
