BAY TO FACE FINAL CHALLENGE The third and probably the final challenge for the Waitangi Shield is to be defended by the Bay of Plenty senior Rugby league team at Ruatoki on August 5 against Auckland Maoris. So far this season the Bay has defended the trophy from Waikato and Rotorua and on each occasion won the games by a substantial margin. The shield is presented for competition among Maori league teams; in the Dominion.

A curtain raiser will be played by B teams of the Bay and Auckland Maoris. The Bay teams are to be coached next week by the well known Auckland player, Mr A. Asher.

The game is to be attended by selectors, who are looking for players for the New Zealand Maori team to play the English league tourists, at present touring New Zealand.
