90% Maori Rate Collection

Of the total Maori rates struck during the past 11 years a 90 per cent collection has been made by the collector of Maori rates, Mr A. O. Stewart, according to his report presented to the monthly meeting of the Whakatane County Council yesterday. During this period the rates struck have totalled £38,684 2s 4d of which £34,711 # 3s 8d |ias been collected. Total rates outstanding at the present time are £3972 18s Bd. This figure includes some non-col-lectable u rates.
