TWO BAY PLAYERS IN N.Z. MAORI RUGBY TEAM
Two Bay of Plenty representatives, S. McLaughlin (Opotiki) and , A. Douglas (Rotorua), have been selected in the New Zealand Maori team to play Manawatu at Palmerston North on July 29. From this game the Maori All Black team to play/British Isles at Wellington on August 2 is to be chosen. The captain is the former Kiwi and All Black centre, J. B. Smith (North
Auckland), and the vice-captain the Maori All Black and present captain of the Wairarapa team, A. Blake. Two half backs have been chosen, M. N. Paewai (North Auckland) and T. Kipa (Auckland). Both are former Maori All Blacks. The four .reserves will each be playing during the game. The team:— Full back. W. H. Taylor (Golden Bay).
Three-quarters, N, P. Cherrington (North Auckland), J. B. Smith (North Auckland), T. Goldsmith (Wanganui). Five-eighths, A. Douglas (B3y of Plenty), P. Smith .(North Auckland). Half backs, T. Kipa. (Auckland), M. N. Paewai (North Auckland). Back row, A. Waaka (Wairarapa). Middle row, S. McLaughlin (Bay of Plenty), J. Ratima (King Country), L. Hohaia (Taranaki), A. Blake (Wairarapa). Front row, I. Hooper (East Coast), K. Mathews (Wairarapa), S. Heperi (Wellington). Reserves: M. 8.. Couch (Wairarapa), D. Kingi (Marlborough), T. Katene (King Country), J. H. Marriner (King Country).
