B GRADE CENTRAL BAY TEAMS
Strong B grade hockey teams have been selected to represent the Central Bay of Plenty against OpV tiki at Opotiki on Saturday. Any player not available should advise team managers.
Both teams will travel by bus, which will leave Edgecumbe at 8.15 a.m., Te Teko 8.30 via Western Drain Road and Whakatane at 8.45. The teams:—
Women: N. Hona, N. Mason, Kelly, J. Chummy, Elliot, Q. Moses, Wanikau, Raki, Ratema, T. Katene, Potikura, T. Rini, Tauroa, Minorarapa, Manageress, Mrs Pryor. Men: T. Weteni, E. Paul, D. Hunia, T. Thompson, K| I'Anson, R. Cobden,
J. Collins, Jacobs, H. Revell, B. Griffin, D.-Salvidge, Kora, D. Bridges, T. Angus. Manager, A. B. Hill; umpire, B. Henderson.
STANDARD OF PLAY IMPROVING The improved standard of play among club hockey teams in the Central Bay of Plenty hockey competition bodes well for representative teams. On Saturday B grade teams are to play at Opotiki while on Sunday the weekly competitions will be continued. The draw:—
A Grade: Women: Matata v Rovers at Matata 1 p.m., Chaytor and Learning; Te Teko v Apanui at Te Teko 2.15 p.m., Edwards and Tihi; Poroporo -a bye. Men: 2.15 p.m., Awakeri v Whakatane at Whakatane, Mrs Grey and Rigden; Poroporo v Apanui at Poroporo, Mrs Chamberlain and Hikitene; Rovers V Riverslea 1 p.m. (friendly game), Marx.
B Grade: Women 1 p.m., Te Teko v Poroporo at Te Teko, Schooner and Edwards; Taneatua v Blues at Otakiri, Barton and Mackrell; Stars v Paroa at Otakiri, Crook and Green; Huimai v Onepu at Te Teko, Tihi and Moses. Men 2.15 p.m., Te Teko v Whakatane at Te Teko, Moses; Taneatua v Blues at Otakiri, Barton and O'Brien; Stars v Rangers at Otakiri, Crook and Mackrell; Huimai a bye.
