Murupara-Whakatane Bus Timetable Is Changed
The timetable of the Monday Road Services bus to Whakatane from Murupara has now been amended so that this bus leaves Murupara at 8.30 a.m. and Whakatane at 2.30 p.m. instead of 9 a.m and 2 p.m. as previously. The people mainly concerned with this change of timetable are the residents of Galatea on the top road, who are served by this bus. Previously the time in town was only two hours but this new service will give at least three hours in Whakatane for business and shopping purposes. When this change in time was first suggested there was a move to have the bus leave Murupara at 7.30 a.m. but this was counter-acted by Galatea residents, who felt that this was much too early for farmers. Their representations had effect and the 8.30 a.m.-2.30 p.m. timetable for which they voted is now operating.
