Awakeri Young Farmers Told How To Buy Grass Seed

The monthly meeting of the.Awakeri Young Farmers’ Club was held in the Awakeri Hall on Monday evening when the chairman, Mr W. Luxtbn, complimented the committee that organised the club’s court at the recent Winter Show. The club was successful in gaining first place. Last month’s field day was held on Mr K. Knight’s property, Te Teko, Mr Knight demonstrating his hedge cutting machine. Mr E. R. Marryatt gave a lecture on “How to buy good grass seed,” and explained to members the different classes of seed, purity and how to find the percentage of germination. Mr Marryatt also spoke on the highlights of his visit to Northland earlier in the year.

The field day for this month .was the Herd Improvement Association’s film evening and lecture by Mr A. Ward, of the Dairy Board, at Edgecumbe last night.
