Dairy Stock Prices Are Noted To Be Slackening
Offerings were small in all classes of stock at the Te Puke sale of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency. But prices realised were in excess of late rates, except perhaps, in the dairy section where competition was not so keen as it has been lately.
Prices: Pigs: Medium stores, £3 15s to £4 ss; slips and small stores, £3 to £3 10s. Cattle: Light fat cows ex dairy, £8 to £10; boner cows, £4 10s to £7 10s. Sheep: Cull ewe hoggets, 31 9s; cull wether hoggets, 31s 3d; 2-year ewes, £2 10s.
Successful Sale Held At Taneatua
Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. report holding a most successful sale of the Opouriao and Bon Vista Jersey studs, the property of Messrs G. R. Yeoman and H. E. Green, Taneatua. The offering of nine two year old pedigree springing heifers met with keen demand, Opouriao Lolo making the top price of 36 guineas to the bid of Mr D. Macdonald, Awakeri, the average being 30| guineas. Six pedigree yearling heifers Were sought and realised up to 30 guineas, the average being 21 1-3 guineas.
A line of 15 grade 2 year Jersey spr’nging heifers on account of Mr Yeoman averaged £l7 while up to £22 10s was paid for a pen of a line of 35 grade two year old springing heifers offered by Mr J. Dunstan, Taneatua. Competition was keen throughout and the latter offering averaged £l9.
