Sudden Earthquake
A short but violent earthquake rocked Whakatane and the surrounding district at about 5.55 p.m. yesterday. Heralded by a roar the shake. started with a couple of brief rocks and ended with a sharp jolt, which rattled windows, doors, and objects on shelves. No damage has been reported.
