Schools Taught Fine Handwriting 60 Years Ago
The fine handwriting and printing taught in schools 60 years ago was well illustrated by Mrs R. .Stobbs in an address on education in the past to the monthly meeting of the Waimana Women’s Institute. The speaker showed examples of writing, printing, arithmetic and map drawing by one Evelyn White, who had attended St. Mary’s Convent, Ponsonby, 60 years ago. A letter of appreciation of the parcels sent to England was received from the Kelsby Institute. Two songs were presented by Miss Currie.
A competition arranged by s Mrs Whiteman, was won by Mrs I. McLean, Mrs Stansbury donating the prize.

King 2, Mrs McDonald 3.
