Preparations For Planting Roses
The preparation of the soil for planting roses was the discussion at the first meeting of the Gardening Circle of the Nukuhou Women’s Institute. The subject started from a reading by Mrs Wylde. Competition results:— Word building, Mrs M. King 1, Mrs M. Englebretson 2; best flower. Mrs Wylde 1, Mrs Poole 2, Mrs King 3; shrub, Mrs King* 1, Mrs Wylde 2, Mrs Poole 3; vegetable, Mrs Wylde 1, Mrs King 2; decorated saucer, Mrs Wylde 1, Mrs Englebretson 2, Mrs Poole 3. Mrs Potter was judge. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Cranswick and Mrs R. Bell.
