Successful Clearing Sale Draws Much Competition

The complete offering of outstanding quality came forward in excellent order at the successful clearing sale conducted by the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. On account of Mr S. Campbell, Whakatane.

Buyers showed their appreciation of high producing stock by spirited competition throughout. Prices realised were the highest for grade cattle seen in the district for many years. Top grade cows made up to £4O and heifers to £35. One pedigree cow, and one pedigree calf, and three pedigree bulls were also offered.

The pedigree Jersey cow, “St Andrew’s Jeanette” went to A. E. and H. E. Watkin, of Whakatane, for 60 guineas. The pedigree Jersey calf for 274 guineas to Rae Bros., of Whakatane; the 4-year pedigree Jersey bull, “Broken Hill Harvest Gold,” to J. G. Bennell, Matata, for 66 guineas, while the 8-year-old “Glen Arra Silent Night” went to Cookson Bros., Waitangi, for 50 guineas. Quotations: —
