BAY DELEGATES TO ATTEND 25th W.D.F.F. BIRTHDAY

When Mesdames Hayward and C. .Allen, Galatea, represent the Eastx ern Bay of Plenty executive at the Dominion conference of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers at the end of this month they will be taking part in special celebrations to mark the twenty-fifth birthday of the movement. The division’s work as a member society of the Associated Country Women of the World will be the theme of a pageant, which is to be called, ‘.‘Pageant Internationale,” and which will be the main section of the celebrations. Mrs A. B. Smith, Dominion secretary, has written the script and will compere the entertainment. There will be groups, drawn from districts throughout New Zealand, representing the 21 countries linked with the A.C.W.W. The characters will be in national costume and the tableau will be set against a background of national flags and flowers. Each group will enact a national scene in miniature. It is recognised in the division that much is owing. to the foundation and early members of the organisation, and for that reason it has been decided to create a twentyfifth birthday honours list. During the birthday celebrations the pre"Yfentation of Dominion life membership badges will be made to those who have given outstanding service for not less than 20 years. A souvenir booklet “And So We Grew” gives the history of, the division, messages from overseas, messages from past Dominion presidents, and many other features and will be a worthwhile memento of the silver jubilee. Another publication for the conference will be a book of essays entitled “A Country Woman’s Day.” Nearly 70 essays were received in a recent essay competition conducted by the division as part of the Associated Country Women of the World competition. This book will be interesting reading, and will give a true picture of a New Zealand woman’s day. Her Excellency Lady Freyberg, who is Dominion patron, will open the conference on the morning of . July 27.
