Splendid Stock At Annual Pedigree Jersey Cattle Sale
In spite of adverse weather conditions causing slips on both the Whakatane and Opotiki sides of the Meriland Stud Farm, a small but lively bench of buyers were in attendance at the annual sale held by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. The stock came forward in splendid sale order leaving no doubt of the breeding of the refined Jersey type.
The average for the 86 lots offered was just over 3U guineas, the top price of 65 guineas being paid by Mr R. A. Wardlaw, Waimana. for a daughter of Cloverfields Vagabond whose first 11 tested daughters have averaged 4091bs fat. Other main buyers were: Merriland Afterglow 521-gns and Merriland Cerise 40gns to Mr R. A. WardLtw, Waimana; Meriland Christina 50gns to Mr J. B. Wardlaw, Waimana; Merriland Pals Lady 43gns to Mr V. Trumper, Te Teko; Merriland Flash 40gns to Mr O. V. Tipping, Wainui; and Merriland Glitter H.C., 37£gns to Mr W. Stevenson, Waimana.
