Nurses' Christian Union Holds Gay Social Evening
Over 70 guests attended the Nurses’ Christian Union evening held in the nurses’ sitting room at the Whakatane District Hospital. Opening with devotions by the matron, Miss K. Miller, the evening was an outstanding social success. Members of the Maori staff entertained with action songs and poi dances, and there were items by other artists, interspersed wi(th games and competitions. Miss Miller was presented with a pretty shoulder spray, and nurses who have just completed their maternity training were farewelled and each presented with a box of flowers.
After an enjoyable supper the Rev. R. T. Dodds pronounced the Benediction and closed the gathering.
