PARCEL REACHES RUSSIAN ZONE OF GERMANY SAFELY
Some time ago a parcel was despatched by the Whakatane League of Mothers to a German family in the Russian Zone of Germany, Some fears were felt for its safe arrival but a letter of appreciation has been received by the League's president, Mrs J. Metcalfe. The address of the family was originally sent to Mrs Metcalfe by the New Zealand Missionary in Holland, who had felt some concern about the family. The letter is worded quaintly but there can be little doubt as to heartfelt appreciation the writer is trying to express in her limited knowledge of English. She writes:— Very esteemed President. Today we received your parcel We thank you very heartily for your sympathy and care. May our gracious God reward you and all the dear mothers acording to His riches of Grace. We wonder how you got our address. We should be very thankful for clothes and Codliver Oil, also Vaseline and Lanoline for preparing ointments.
Christian Greetings God has helped us so far, and we hc.ve His word ' that He will not leave us or forsake us. All Honour and Praise be to Him. He is able to sustain us in all the difficulties and trials on our desert journey. With sincere Christian greetings to you and all the dear mothers in your meeting. I am thankfully, FRAU ANNA VOLLRATH. If any resident of the district would care to make a contribution for needy folk in the German Russian Zone they are requested to leave it at Dressrite Ltd.
