Gardening Circle To Be Formed By Nukuhou W.I.
The Nukuhou Women’s Institute monthly meeting was well attended and the vice-president, Mrs R. Bell, presided. The report of the annual council meeting was presented by Mrs -Macdonald. It was decided to form a gardening circle and Mrs Poole was elected to convene a meeting at ner home of all interested.
A wall competition, arranged by Mrs M.King, resulted, Mrs Wylde 1, Mrs Englebretison 2. Several Waimana' Institute members, Mrs Wylde, Mrs Stansbury and Mrs Hewitt, entertained with an amusing sketch. Mrs Stansbury gave several elocutionary items. Results of competitions, Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Stansbury acted as judges:— Design, Miss J. Wylde 1, Mrs T. Doran 2, Mrs R. Bell 3; vegetable, Mrs Grant 1, Mrs Doran 2, Mrs Wylde 3; single flower, Mrs Menzies 1, Mrs Poole 2, Mrs W. Macdonald 3; multiple flower, Mrs M. King 1, Mrs Poole 2, Mrs Doran and Mrs Grant equal 3; knitted booties, Mrs Menzies 1, Miss Wylde 2, Mrs Cranswick ~3; steam pudding, Mrs Menzies 1, . Miss Wylde 2, Mrs T. Doran 3.
