Bay Farmers Do Not Favour Guaranteeing Rural Housing Rents
Although the executive of the Bay of Plenty Province of Federated Farmers does not favour he federation guaranteeing rents for rural housing, it passed a resolution at its quarterly meeting in Whakatane urging those farmers who desired houses, and who were willing to guarantee the rent to make application to the housing division of the head office of the Federation as soon as possible.
The reason for this need for early application was explained in a circular which pointed out that the division wished to ascertain the demand for State houses, both rural and in the town, so it could plan its building programme and allocate men, materials and land. This is all part of the scheme to build State houses for the farming community in isolated rural areas.
