Overseas, to help in the flow of aid to China. The appeal was started on Monday. Corso’s work in China has always been supported by New Zealanders. Largely because of the admiration most people feel for Rewi Alley* the New Zealander in China who is assisting the rehabilitation of wartorn China by the education of the Chinese. Much assistance has been given to*China through the welfare fund established by Madame Sun Yetsen and much of the New Zealand aid has been distributed in this way.
The appeal at Whakatane is being 'made to all residents of the district. Any donation may be sent to the Beacon and it will be acknowledged in a press subscription list. The amounts received will later be forwarded to the Corso headquarters at Wellington.
