Board Mills Obtains Own Fire Engine

A new fire engine has been purchased by the Whakatane if Board Mills to bd used as a pumping machine and also to assist in existing fire fighting precautions, which now operate at the mill. The fire engine is a 1926 model and was previously owned by the New Plymouth Fire Brigade, being the No. 2. machine stationed in the city. The machine made its last appearance in Plymouth when it was loaded aboard a railway truck for Whakatane.

By special arrangement the Whakatane Mills rely mainly for fire protection from the Whakatane Volunteer Fire Brigade.
