Winter Air Services May Affect Bay Of Plenty Travellers

Bay of Plenty travellers who use the air services from Rotorua and Tauranga and the feeder service from Opotiki will benefit from the new winter timetables, which are being brought into operation by National Airways from Ma'y 15. These provide for connections to Rotorua and Hamilton and also extra services to Tauranga from Auckland and Gisborne.

From Wellington a flight will be made at 9.20 a.m. for Palmerston North and Hamilton with a connection to Rotorua. This means a oneday through air service from Wellington and Christchurch to the Bay of Plenty. Tauranga is affected by the Auckland-Gisborne service. There are two daily services, the early one which leaves Auckland at 8.10 a.m. calling at Tauranga. In the return from Gisborne planes leave at 2.30 p.m. and 4.40 p.m., the former calling at Tauranga and the other making a new direct night service to Auckland. An Auckland-Hamilton-Rotorua service has also been inaugurated. Here provision is made for one return flight daily between Auckland and Hamilton and two return flights daily between Hamilton and Rotorua.
