Good Muster At White Pine Bush Pony Club Break-Up
Yesterday the White Pine Bush branch of the Whakatane District Pony Club held its last rally of the season, and has now gone into recess until September. There was a good muster of branch members, and a number of visitors from Whakatane.
The children gave an exhibition of what they had learned during the year in the school ring, and the rest of the day was devoted to equestrian games and competitions. Mrs M. McKay judging the riding and jumping events. Highly amusing novelty was the double-bank-ing bending race, the idea of which .some of the horses failed to grasp. ■ Before the gathering dispersed, trophies won during the season were presented by Mrs McKay, following a brief address by the bianche’s head instructor, Mr L. Davies, who expressed his and the branch’s appreciation of the help given by all the other adults who had shown an interest, particularly Mr and Mrs G. Howard, instructors, .and Mr L. Berg, on whose property the rallies had been held. He presented a Pony Club badge to Miss Carolyn Culmer, of Suffolk, Engi land, a member of the English Society of the Horse.
Trophy winners: Mr and Mrs C. Eutler’s Cup for the most improved rider, Vincent Butler; runnerup (riding crop trophy) Keith Bennett. Mr and Mrs G. Howard’s Cup lor the most consistently well-kept pony and equipment, Miss R. Morse,
