Drama Circle Training _ The drama circle of the Edgecumbe Women’s Institute is now steadily rehearsing for two plays to be presented at the forthcoming drama festival.

Unusual Shaped Egg An unusual pullet egg found or* a Thornton farm' was brought into the Beacon office yesterday. Measuring about 1£ inches in length and \ of an inch wide the egg was coloured a light brown and was a long oval shape. It is understood that the same bird produced a similar egg on a previous occasion.

Many Tributes Tributes to the work of Mr R. F. Morgan, assistant clerk, who has resigned from the Whakatane County Council staff to take up a position as clerk to the Waiapu County, were paid by councillors to the monthly meeting of the Whakatane County Council. Mr Morgan replied thanking councillors for their remarks.

Value of Bands The value of the Whakatane Citizens’ Band and the St Andrew’s Pipe Band to Whakatane and the surrounding district was emphasised by Councillor A. F. McGougan to the monthly meeting of the Whakatane County Council.
