Matata & Taneatua At Rugby Tourney
Teams from the Whakatane and Rangitaiki Sub-Unions competed with some measure of success at the seven-a-side rugby tournament played at Te Puke last week. In the senior section Matata, Te Teko and Taneatua competed strongly with Matata being runners-up after being beaten 1-0 by Te Puke H. 5.0.8.
In the junior section two teams f: om Matata and one from Taneatua made a strong bid for the final, which was played between Fukehina and Taneatua, the latter losing 13-0.
